spitfire007: I started collecting stamps while I was in primary school early 1970s. I had quite an extensive collection of Malaysian and foreign stamps stashed in my albums. I even joined a stamp club and corresponded with several overseas pen pals to expand my collection. In mid-1983 I went to the US to further my studies and studied there for six years. When I completed my education and returned to my country in 1989 I discovered that my stamp collection were mostly gone... so I gave up the hobby altogether. Somehow, in 1993 I picked up the hobby once again with a vengence... and restarted my collection but concentrating mainly on used Malaysian commemorative and definitive stamps. I prefer used stamps over the mint ones because to me they have performed their postal duties in delivering the mails. I picked, bought and traded any Malaysian stamps wherever I can find or lay my hands on them but at reasonable prices. Later on, I decided to start the First Day Covers and mint stamps as well.
